Semperit Susu Karamel
February 09, 2022
Butter cookie dough made with only 4 ingredients : butter, corn flour, vanilla
essence and dulce de leche.
This cookies dough then piped into swirl in the shape of dahlia flowers, top with cut up glazed cherries.
In english, I would describe this as dulce de leche custard cookies!
Mouthful to say but easier for my english readers to understand.
This biskut semperit susu is a spin off the traditional biskut semperit, or custard cookies.
You can check my previous post on this traditional custard cookies (Biskut semperit) that I baked for our Eid celebration every year.
This biskut semperit susu only uses butter, corn flour, vanilla essence and dulce de leche (or you can substitute with condensed milk).
Hence this makes these biskut semperit susu eggless and gluten free cookies.
Do note that I also added a recipe in Bahasa Malaysia too in the recipe card for my Malaysians, Indonesians and Singaporeans readers.
These are the easy steps to bake biskut semperit susu (dulce de leche custard cookies).
1. To prepare dulce de leche ahead of baking day.
2. Only using corn flour to make biskut semperit susu | dulce de leche cookies
3. Butter at room temperature.
Cream butter with balloon whisk.
4. Add dulce de leche to the creamed butter
5. Mix well then add corn flour to form a dough.
6. Using a special semperit nozzle, to create this beautiful swirly dahlia shaped flowers.
This cookie dough is not as soft as buttercream, hence it might be too difficult to use piping bag and nozzle.
And if you do not have this special cookie nozzle, just shape into a ball and decorate with glaze cherries.
7. I am adding little gold balls as decorations.
You may use cut up glaze cherries.
8. Baked biskut semperit susu / dulce de leche cookies.
Keep in the dark cool place (best place is in the larder).
