Making chocolate soil/ chocolate dirt is so much fun!

Brings out the child in me, playing with dirt and no one to tell me off :D.
I guess no matter how old we are, we will always have that "inner child", waiting to come out and play.

What is Chocolate Soil?

Chocolate soil is a mixture of almond meal, cocoa powder, sugar and flour with butter.
Mix to a bread crumb texture and bake to make it looks like REAL dirt or soil!

How to make Chocolate Soil?

Add almond meal to a mixing bowl.
Step 1: Add almond meal to a mixing bowl.

Add plain flour
Step 2: Add plain flour

Add caster sugar
Step 3: Add caster sugar (you can opt for raw sugar)

Add cocoa butter
Step 4: Add cocoa butter

Step 5: Mix the dry ingredients well.


Add melted butter and mix until it looks like breadcrumb.

Pop into the oven for 10 minutes.

What to do with Chocolate Soil?

I like to top my chocolate mousse with some chocolate soil, to have different texture.
And good to hide the 'imperfections' especially the chocolate mousse top layer.

You can use chocolate soil for pudding or chocolate cake (with frosting).

How to keep Chocolate Soil?

This recipe yield approximately 400g.
You might not use all as chocolate mousse topping.
Keep the leftover in an airtight container.

How long can I keep Chocolate Soil for?

Chocolate soil has butter hence it will not keep as long as I would like to.
If kept in the pantry/ larder, best use within 7 days.
