Red Beans Ice Cream
April 05, 2012
Red bean popsicle, also known as ais krim potong, is Malaysians' favorite ice cream.
short post... continuation from previous Sweetcorn Ice-cream post
The weather is cooling off... the leaves are changing into shades of yellow and soon will be brown... grey, dark clouds looking heavy and about to burst... and less sunny days...
It's a sure sign of Autumn... and I am HAPPY...

Autumn in Perth ~ is very mild... compared to Eastern States or countries in the Northern hemisphere... I could still indulge in ice-cream... without shivers running through my spine
I chose to make red bean ice-cream....one of many favourite flavours among Malaysians... Other flavors would be sweet corn, Durian, and Jackfruit.
My all-time favourite would be all of the above except for durian... I wasn't very keen on Durian or any durian-flavored food ever since I was knocked out by XO durian... I had migraine for 2 days ...
Red beans with coconut milk... combine the 2 together... beautiful flavours.. and I can assure you that one popsicle will not be enough

I really have to try this recipe - as you know, red bean is my favourite. Did you use shot glasses as the molds? Very good idea!

ReplyDeleteBtw, I remember the red bean ice cream I used to eat was only 20 sen back then! ;)

ReplyDeleteYummy... I love your ice cream recipes, Lisa! Now you're making me wish I owned (and have space in my kitchen cabinet) an ice-cream machine =D But, yes. There really is nothing better than good old Red Bean/Durian/Sweet Corn ais krim potong by the roadside on a hot day in Malaysia. Happy days. I think I want to pass this recipe on to my friend who owns an ice cream machine so she can make this for me haha =D
ReplyDeleteYou probably know my love for red bean... Arrhhh this looks so good. I can eat two of them per serving and it will not last too long in my house. I love red bean ice cream so much! Your photos look beautiful Lisa!!
