Ginger Lemon Tea with Honey

Ginger and lemon tea with honey : Aromatic, sweet, tart and bursting with fresh flavours to combat flu.
Lemon, ginger and honey are known to have some healing properties and widely use to boost immune system, combat flu and tummy upset too.
Other ingredients can be added like garlic, thyme and chilli, known as flu tea, best remedial for flu!
Ginger tea could be traced back to China and initially used as health tonic, and counter bitter taste in traditional herbal medicine.
However, ginger and honey tea is often prepared as drink in Asia mainly south-east Asia.
Ginger tea is known as shōgayu (生姜湯), while in Korea it is known as saenggang-cha (생강차).
Yuja cha is another traditional and famous Korean tea to combat cold.
Ginger flavoured tea with milk (teh halia) is quite popular in Malaysia, Brunei and Sinagpore.
In Indonesia, their ginger tea (teh jahe) is sweetened by using palm sugar.
1) Ginger helps to relieves nausea and indigestion.
2) Lemon, lime or kalamansi helps ease congestion and cold.
3) And honey, apart from being used as natural sweetener, honey is also used as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial agent.

The quantity as in the recipe card below is just an indication.
Add or reduce any ingredients as per your liking.
Not to worry, there is no right or wrong.
If you like ginger then add more ginger slices and if you love lemon, then add more lemon slices.
Slice lemon thinly.
Young ginger is not as 'sharp' as old ones.
Wash off dirt and peel off the skin.
Wipe dry with kitchen paper/ towel
Thinly slice.
I used 3 bottles in this recipe (2 bottles for my adult kids who has moved out "sad")
Top up with honey
Close the lid and refrigerate for 3 days.

You will notice that honey will sink to the bottom and lemon juice stays at the top of the bottle, so give lemon honey ginger mixture a good stir.
Scoop about 1 or 2 teaspoon of the concoction into a mug or heatproof glass, pour hot boiling water and stir.
Adjust the amount to your liking.

Best to be used within 7 days.
You can halved or make a third if you worry that you may not be able to consume within the stipulated time.

How to Make Honey Ginger Lemon Tea

Step by step to make ginger lemon tea with honey drink.
1) Lemons
Wash and wipe dry lemons.Slice lemon thinly.
2) Ginger
I used young ginger in this recipe.Young ginger is not as 'sharp' as old ones.

I used local produce honey.4) Sterilised bottles.
Sterilised any bottles or jar prior.I used 3 bottles in this recipe (2 bottles for my adult kids who has moved out "sad")
5) Ginger lemon and Honey in a jar
Arrange lemon slices and ginger slices in sterilised bottles.Top up with honey
Close the lid and refrigerate for 3 days.

How to serve Ginger honey lemon tea
After 3 days, take out from the fridge.You will notice that honey will sink to the bottom and lemon juice stays at the top of the bottle, so give lemon honey ginger mixture a good stir.
