Succulent and Juicy Jang- Sanjeok (Korean Beef Patties)
March 20, 2015
Delicious Korean beef patty known as Jang-Sanjeok.

Beef Patty with Asian Pear/ Sanjeok is a Korean beef patty mixed with mashed Asian pear. Cooked over an open fire to give that smokey flavour. A perfect inclusion to your Barbeque spread.

My girl is trying her best to get us hooked with her obsession with everything Korean!!!! From Korean drama to Korean food to variety shows.
Drama? its passable!!! I could sit down with her watching the drama from start to end but I put a pause to the next drama... the same plot every time, I need not elaborate more.

Anyway, she managed to get us hooked on a Korean variety show called 'Running Man'.
Even though not understanding the language to get most of what is being said.. especially jokes! we got the gist of the whole plot with the help of subtitles albeit few seconds of delay :)
One of the challenges in one of the episodes aired was the challenge of cooking Korean traditional cuisine. Without a doubt...when food is mentioned I am all ears and eyes.
As the show progresses... a voice could be heard "That looks yum.. MOM!!! can you please make some..."
.... and here it is...

Sanjeok (stand to be corrected...and apologies to all Korean foodies out there, if I got it wrong...) is basically, minced beef mixed with the locally produced pear from Naju, made into patties.
The meat is then cooked over charcoal. The meat is sweet, and tender with a smokey aroma.

Serve either with salad or as a burger
Are you game for some Mission 'Food' Impossible? You must try this succulent finger-licking good Korean Twice fried Chicken :D
Its da BOMB!!!

Enjoy the smokey Sanjeok with either salad or a burger.

Lovely! You said Sanjeok correctly. :) Looks very tasty.
ReplyDeleteMy husband's favourite meal! I make beef/pork patties (they are called frikadellen over here) very often for his lunch. I am going to try your recipe next time as I love the add of pears in these. Looks absolutely mouthwatering, Lisa.
